Can a corn stove burn wood pellets?

I have an “Amizeablaze” model 4100 corn burning fireplace insert. I was wondering if I can also burn pellets designed for a pellet stove, or even a mixture of corn and pellets. What do you think? Thanks

So the short answer seems to be ‘yes’ – but it looks like it’s not as easy as just dumping wood pellets into your corn stove.

You might be able to mix wood pellets and corn 50/50 without needing an adaptor kit, but expect it to put out less heat when doing that. I’ve been considering trying to put corn in my wood pellet stove, but I’m taking the advice of some people online who say to mix the two together, the wood can moderate the higher burning temp of the corn, and reduces the clinkers (carbon chunks in the burnpot) that corn is prone to.

Corn burns hotter than wood pellets, so that may explain why you need some kind of kit or adaptor to make wood pellets work in a corn stove. I’ve seen info on some multi-fuel systems that says they have a switch position for which type of fuel you’re using, wood pellets, corn, cherry pits, sunflower seeds, etc., and that probably means they have whatever adaptations that are necessary for different fuels already built in.
