80 brick fireplace?

How can a brick chimney of the 80 will be updated? the whole thing: Fablon blanket cover, two side bits, one of which corresponds to the tv and one for a lamp. I have started a brick two side dmolishing "zones" and just left around, how I can update from here? cannot demolish, just new wallpaper! "color" is just a bit of wood ontop of the bricks. The bricks are not flush to the wall, they stick out, is painted cream with a beech effect fablon the mantle and the fire that fit only are outdated! the pleasant are an inch too high. the opening is 22 inches and must be electric fires highj
