cheaper is heating my house with propane gas or electricity?
Im going to add a heater to heat the rooms of my house (1,000 square feet) 3 bedrooms. Is adding a cost of propane furnace wall or less to operate than a fake electric fireplace be better?
It depends on where you live. Hawaiian Electric is about 47 cents a kWh and Missouri is about 6 cents. However, when gas and oil rose so did the cost of propane and electricity for a time was cheaper here. Propane gas type has a set price with the U.S. all with in a few cents here and there, but it's different where you live electricity. Idaho has the cheapest electric rate electricity and it would be cheaper than propane California may be cheaper. To run a stove in a size of 5 gallons (25 lbs tank) will last approximately 2 months. This is cooking two meals a day for 4 people and the furnace once a week. So goes a long way I'm sure you can ask your sales person about BTU and how long the tank size you have. If you looked and liquid propane from a liquid dropper size will be 64 times larger in form gas and cook about two pots of soup or two pots Superior Ramin macaroni and cheese. It also depends on your height as well. An electric heater can be plugged into the wall where the propane will have to thread and must comply with building codes and when the tank is empty, you must take to have to fill. However, If you already have propane to your house maybe worth while. to run a pipe a few feet to your room and have the truck leaves to replenish its large permanent tank. The other thing to be taken with propane vented to the outside and not electrical. Both odor dry as a vent the first time on. A gas heater can last more than a power may need repairs after a while. If you have the time to research which I am sure that will realize a Geo Thermal system better then the best option and you can have heating and cooling through a whole home. New systems now days are tax deductible and are very clean and efficient to use. Here is a website that you can see if your state offers a program for this system. http://www.dsireusa.org/index.cfm?EE=1&RE=1 Geothermal is considered a renewable energy like solar or wind power. I hope I have given more information then what you asked. I hope I did not forget anything?
