Bought an old home with a gas line fireplace. There is no log. We want to use it but are unsure how to proceed

We bought an old colonial home with a non functioning gas fireplace. The gas line is present but there is no insert/log. We would like to use it but are unsure how to proceed. Can we buy a log such as they sell at Lowes & connect it to the gas line? Do we need to buy an insert? Or is it more complex? Any help is appreciated.

You might visit the heat & glo website (www.heatnglo.com). From there you can find a dealer near you. I’d bet they’d give you an in-home consultation on what to do for free and I’m pretty sure they’d carry the necessary equipment to get you going. Give it a shot. It’s at least woth a phone call.
