How to make a fireplace surround using ceramic tile?

I'll be doing a fireplace surround and home through ceramic tile. Is a zero clearance wood fireplace. The surrounding walls are plaster and the home will be timber frame and lifted the 12th floor. I have a pretty good idea of how to start, but I am curious if anyone has any advice I should know. Maybe you have done this yourself? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

I have made literally 100s of fireplaces. The raised to 12 "you say are a little over 1 challenging.Do home and let dry.
