Building a fireplace hearth….pic included?

The house i’m buying has an existing fireplace but it looks a little wierd because the opening is way up off the floor level and there isn’t a hearth, just tile on the floor underneath it.
I’d like to build a hearth for the front of it to stack wood on and also to support the screen to cover the opening.
Raised foundation so i’d remove the tile floor and I imagine start with the cement backer board. But I’m not sure If I should build it using block or frame it with wood etc. I’m planning on covering the painted brick with some kind of stacked stone or natural stone look.

Thats a standard raised fireplace and you can build up a hearth as you want with a wood frame.. I would up grade to 2×6 s instead of 2×4 s since you want to stack wood there.. Allow for a 3/4″ plywood top and 1/2″ cement board atop of that .. Sides you can use cement board or both 3/4 and cement board..
All this you can adjust for heigths and widths using the tile you picked out..
