fireplace grate blower

I just bought a home with a fireplace, but I am not sure if it is usable?
I have just purchased an 8 year old home and it has a fireplace that I know nothing about. The owners said that it was used as a wood burning stove and is all set to be turned into a gas fireplace (which we prefer) it just needs to be connected. We had a licensed heating professional look at it and he said there was no gas line connected to the fireplace, and he was not sure how to do it or what this fireplace was originally intended for.
The plate on the fireplace reads, Warnock Hersey, Model KC-38-2, Fireplace No: 163610, Blower assembly model: 11781, Date fo MFR: B1, P/N – U, Risk of fire damage replace grate with Grate model SGR38 2.
Do you know anything about this or what we can purchase to make this fireplace usable? We would prefer gas, but will take what we can get.

I assume you had the house inspected before puchasing it. The owners told you it was ready to go as a gas fireplace but, now you find out there’s no gas line. That’s going to cost you money to have installed. I would talk to my lawyer and real estate agent. You were deceived. It sounds like it’s going to cost you money to get it up and running and the old home owners should be responsible. Next, you could call the gas company or building inspector and have them take a look at it. Perhaps they could tell you what it needs. I would also look for a fireplace store and speak to them about what you have and what you’re going to need.
