What is the stone piece in front of fireplace called?
We recently had a home built, and have wood floors in the living room. We also have gas logs and as much searching as I have done, can’t for the life of my figure out what the stone or marble piece you can purchase to put on the floor in front of the fireplace is called. I was thinking pad, but this is for protecting children from falling and hitting corners. There is nothing on the floor in front of our fireplace, and for decoration purposes, would love to put something there but obviously if I can’t find it I can’t buy it. I know this probably sounds crazy, but can someone please help me locate a name for such a thing? THANK YOU in advance!
Maybe I should explain better. A herth is a built up piece aorund a fireplace. I am simply looking for a rectangular piece made of tile that would sit directly on the floor in front of my fireplace.
We always called them a tile pad in our wood stove shop. You have to put one in under most free standing wood stoves. I have always known to be the face of the fireplace.
I agree on the hearth rug comment, that is the best resolution for a gas log fireplace sicen you wont have popping sparks.
BTW, you may want to consider a direct vent firepalce instead of a gas log if you want to get heat from it.
